Technique: Copper engraving, 19 x 25.5 cm (7.5 x 10 inches).
This is one of the earliest obtainable maps of Brazil and was issued in Ruscelli's work Geographia in 1561.
This is the first state of the map with an inscription Gli indi natij di questi paesi mangiano carne humana in the center of the map (The Indians native to these countries eat human meat). Later editions of this map replaced this words with a cannibalistic scene.
