4°, the line of the right margin adjusting to the cover image,  with chromolithographed illustrations, card boards with chromolithographed cover, original red spine (margins with light staining, sporadic small chips on the boards with tiny loss of paper on the back, pages reinforced with modern rice paper in the gutter, boards slightly dusty and stained, otherwise in a good condition).
A story for children on Christopher Columbus and his discovery of America was made for the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the discovery. The title page is decorated with Columbus’s portrait and a map, depicting his travel route.
Elisabeth Ebeling (1828-1905) was a 19th century traveler and author of mostly adventurous stories for children. Although she published a series of stories almost all the Ebeling’s publications are rare today in the libraries (Jarvis – Blackwel, p. 241).
