Late 16th century manuscript coat of arms with gold highlights of the Bohemian noble family Wartenberg.

Coat of arms and dedication by  Johann Georg von Wartenberg on a leaf from a late 16th century Album amicorum. Johann Georg was born in an old Bohemian noble family, that supported the Protestants in the 16th and early 17th century. He was schooled in Tübingen, where in 1599 he made this entry in an album amicorum. In the early 17th century he sold his proprieties Großrohosetz and Kleinska in Bohemia, after he was trialed for his protestant religion and moved to Bamberg, where he died on 4.6.1647.  

 

 

The important noble family of Watenberg (Zwirzeticzky von Wartenberg, z Wartmberka, tschechisch z Vartenberka, auch Vartenberkové)) was founded in the 12th century in Bohemia.

 

Highly decorative late 16th century hand drawn coat of arms with gold highlights and elaborately made green dragon surrounding the shield.
