An uncommon Ottoman translation of the German book Deutschland im Orient nach dem Balkankrieg (Germany in the East after the Balkan War) was published during WWI in Istanbul, when Germany was allies with the Ottoman Empire.

The book includes the various chapters on the problem of the German role in the Ottoman Empire and on the Balkans, such as the German economic interests in the area until Baghdad in the south, the Baghdadbahn, the problem of small and large Turkey, the problem of the Balkans and interference of other countries in the area, the nationalistic interests of the Germans on the area,...

The author of the German original, Ernst Jäckh (1875 – 1959), was one of the leading promotors of the Young Turks movement in Germany. He was lecturing at the German Highschool for Politics in Berlin, was a founder of the German-Turkish Alliance (1908-1914) and the German Turkish Association in 1912. An open anti-Nazi, Jäckh migrated to London in the 1930s, where he lectured at the New Commonwealth Institute. In 1940, he moved to New York and became a professor at the Columbia University.

In the same year another copy of the book was published by Yeni Osmanlı Matbaası (New Ottoman Press).

We could find five institutional copies of the book (Orient-Institut Istanbul, Boğaziçi University Library, Columbia University, Princeton University Library, Library of Congress).
