Applebaum was a Polish Jew, who migrated to Britain in 1900. He learned Esperanto already in 1909. Jozefo is Applebaum’s most important work and retells the biblical story of Joseph and Pothiphar.
An introduction to the book was written by a British-Swiss Italian author Reto Rossetti (1909-1994).
The Esperanto publishing house Stafeto was run by Juan Régulo Pérez in La Laguna, Tenerife Island, between 1952 and 1975, when they publshed 93 books, most of them in limited editions.
