This is a second end improved translation to Esperanto of a Dutch novel by Petrus Abraham Samuel van Limburg Brouwer (1829 - 1873), about Abu'l-Fath Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar (1542– 1605), popularly known as Akbar or Akbar the Great, the third Mughal emperor, who reigned from 1556 to 1605. The first edition of the novel in Dutch was published in 1872 and the first Esperanto translation was made in 1923 by Jan Ziermans.
This is a second, improved and shorter translation from 1936.
The translation was made by Julia Isbrücker and J. R. G. Isbrücker, who in 1930 founded the International Cseh Institute of Esperanto together with Andreo Cseh (1895-1979). The institure moved to the Hague in 1933 and is today known as Andreo Cseh House.
The Isbrückers and Cseh were one of the founders of 1930 learning and translation techniques of Esperanto. In 1942, during WWII, when Esperanto was forbidden by the Nazis, they founded an underground group Universala Ligo.
